Lucia Hornischer is a German American filmmaker; cinematographer, photographer and editor, from the San Francisco Bay Area, CA. She began creating stop-motion Lego films and iMovie trailers at an early age, which quickly developed into one-woman-directed-and-produced shorts in High School. Later at Vassar College, she majored in Film and Italian, where she made films ranging from cinéma vérité documentaries, avant-garde experiential films, and projects in different languages. It was here that she also developed an interest in 35mm B&W film photography, something she hopes to continue to explore and experiment with in her filmmaking practices.

In her personal life, Lucia enjoys dancing, collecting lamps and old tins, and drawing visual connections between human and natural forms. In her art practice, she enjoys playing with light and shadows, emptiness of physical spaces and interweaving mixed physical archival materials that she has collected over the years.
